The three universities contested on the broader topic 'Gender Justice'.
Mzuzu University (MZUNI) and the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA) have booked their places in the semifinal of Shift the Power Inter-University Debates after performing well in Group One competition on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The Debate, which was held at Times Television studios in Lilongwe, saw the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) leaving the competition for coming third in the group.
The three universities contested on the broader topic ‘Gender Justice’.
MZUNI emerged top of the group with CUNIMA coming second. MZUNI will compete with the runners up in Group 2 while CUNIMA will debate against winners of Group 2.
Group 2 contestants namely University of Malawi (UNIMA), Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) will battle out on Sunday evening.
