As the Presidential Debates Task Force continues to engage political parties ahead of debates scheduled for August and September 2025, the UTM party has committed that its presidential candidate, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, will participate in the debates.
The party announced its commitment following the meeting with the Taskforce in Lilongwe on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. UTM Vice President for the Central Region Hellen Chabunya and an aide to the party president, Mayamiko Mwinjilo, attended the meeting
“Our candidate has always been ready for the debates. We will participate in all three debates,” Chabunya said.
Task Force Chairperson Golden Matonga welcomed the commitment by the UTM and expressed hope that other parties will follow suit and sign a pledge to participate in the debates.
“The debates are critical in fostering robust dialogue on the best ideas to take this country forward,” Matonga said.
The Task Force has already engaged the leadership of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), People’s Party (PP), Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).
