Call for expressions of interest to produce, air ‘Know the Projects in Your Area’ radio programmes

These programmes will be produced to help citizens perform their oversight functions.

MISA Malawi invites applications from community radio stations interested in producing and airing ‘Know the Projects in Your Area’ radio programmes under a six-month Social Accountability project.

With financial support from Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), MISA Malawi is currently implementing a project titled, ‘Enhancing Social Accountability through Citizen Voices and Community Radio in Malawi’.

The project includes production of 30-minute radio programmes aimed at informing citizens on the local development projects approved for their communities. These programmes will be produced to help citizens perform their oversight functions. The programmes are also meant to help local councils and radio stations get feedback from the communities on the implementation of projects under local development funds such as Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and District Development Fund (DDF).

We are looking for radio programme ideas of at least 2 pages (maximum). Include the following information:

  • Your station’s unique abilities/style in production and delivery
  • Experience in the production of Social Accountability programmes
  • Proposed name for the programme
  • Language to be used in your programming
  • Type of sources/speakers/panellists that you will involve in your programmes
  • Number of programmes and summary of content to air for at least two months of the programme cycle. The programmes are to be aired between January 10 and February 28, 2025
  • List of individuals to be involved in the production and their experience(s)
  • The station’s reach in terms of radius and estimated population
  • Separate radio station’s rate card.

Deadline for receiving expressions of interest is 5pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Late submissions will not be entertained.

Only shortlisted radio stations will be notified.
