MISA Regional Director re-elected into IFEX Governing Council

Dr Moyo was elected with 12 other council members for a three-year term from 2023 to 2026, which will mark his last term in office.  

MISA Regional Director Dr Tabani Moyo was re-elected to the IFEX Governing Council at its elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) held virtually on 29 June 2023. 

Dr Moyo was elected with 12 other council members for a three-year term from 2023 to 2026, which will mark his last term in office.  

IFEX is a global network promoting and defending freedom of expression, with a membership of more than 100 organisations. It is based in Toronto, Canada.

He was first elected to the council in 2019, where he proceeded to chair the council’s governance committee.

“We accept this responsibility with humility as we serve this great movement in defence of freedom of expression globally,” he said.

“I’m grateful to the IFEX membership for bestowing this leadership mantle on fellow councillors including myself until 2026 and recommit to performing my responsibilities to the best of my abilities.”

MISA is also a member of the Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) and Global Forum for Media Development Forum (GFMD) boards.
