Children and the Media MISA Malawi

MISA strives to build the capacity of the media in southern Africa to report positively, informatively and from a base of knowledge and advocacy on child rights issues.

This is particularly important in southern Africa where more than 50 per cent of the population in many countries is below the age of 18, increasing the importance of the youth vote, both regionally and internationally.

MISA has partnered with Save the Children International to create opportunities and safe spaces for the production of children’s media, sensitise journalists on child rights, develop codes of ethics for reporting on children’s issues and rights and promote fair, honest and accurate reporting on the experience of childhood.

MISA Malawi, like all MISA Chapters across the region, strives to build the capacity of the media to report positively, informatively and from a base of knowledge and advocacy on child rights issues.
